Naomi Downie is an artist of Faith, living in Balmain, Land of the Wangal people of Eora Nation. She has participated in many group exhibitions in local small Newcastle galleries & 3 group shows at Synergy Gallery in Melbourne, most notably 7 years group shows in Harrington St Gallery in Chippindale/ Sydney.
Her first Solo Exhibition came into being, at South Sydney Uniting church’s gallery, The Orchard. Amongst the mix of oil paintings of inner-west city life of art studio, music & landscapes, emerged a theme of loss & the healing power of waterways. This planted the seed of the next exhibition.
2021 Feb was her next major exhibition at BalmainSpace Gallery, titled ‘Waterways & Belonging”. The works explored Spirit of Place- our need to build a relationship with the land & waters we inhabit in order to create a sense of home. She is looking forward to the 2022 exhibit in 16-21 August ‘3 Rivers with 3 Artists
exploring their relationship to 3 rivers at Art on Darling, in Balmain.
