Last week, Ps Micah attended the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Faith Leaders Round Table, hosted by the Inner West Region Prevention of Abuse of Older People Collaborative. This important gathering brought together voices from across our local community, including councils, health and community services, police, and advocacy organisations.

The event focused on the mistreatment and abuse of older people—an issue that often goes unnoticed but affects too many. It was an opportunity to listen, to learn, and to discuss ways we can all play a part in creating respectful, safe spaces for our older community members.

As a church, we are committed to being a safe place for everyone. That begins with honest conversations and continues as we walk alongside others already doing great work in this space. We want to be curious, compassionate, and connected—listening to the experiences of others and working together to make change.

A heartfelt thanks to the teams from:

  • City of Canada Bay

  • City of Canterbury Bankstown

  • Inner West Council

  • Sydney Local Health District

  • Burwood Council

  • Strathfield Council

  • Community and Cultural Connections

  • NSW Police Force

  • Older Women’s Network NSW

  • Ethnic Community Services (ECS)

We’re grateful for the chance to learn from and with you.
