Life can be full of great joy and flourishing, but faithfully following Jesus inevitably brings the challenge of adversity. Adversity has the potential to overwhelm us, but it also holds open the opportunity for our formation. The prophet Jeremiah may have started his journey, stumbling through the trials he faced against men, but what he found there was God, limitless in His power to prepare and equip Jeremiah to carry out all God was inviting him to do. As we explore six key highlights of the life of this man, often called ‘the weeping prophet,’ I believe we too will experience a formation of our faith that will help keep us from stumbling and leave us better equipped to endure a life running with horses.
