“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and His glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
(Isaiah 60: 1- 3)

For the prophet’s original readers, these words may have suggested the guidance and direction God gave His people through all those years in the wilderness, the cloud by day and especially the fire by night. To us today, they serve also as a reminder that we live in a world of darkness, Yet God continually brings His light to shine upon His people so that we can see His way ahead for us and to shine through us so that the world in which we live, even in all its reluctance, may come to see something of Him and His glory.
